Cardamom Scones
Scones are an easy snack we love to make. Good with a cup of tea, topped with cream and jam, especially on a rainy day!
Cardamom Scones
A fragrant scone recipe with a twist
Ingredients
- 400 g Self raising flour
- 75 g Butter
- 200 ml Milk
- 50 g Caster sugar
- 12 Green cardamom pods (you can increase or decrease to adjust the prominence of the cardamom flavour)
Instructions
- Rub the butter and flour together.
- Grind the middle of the cardamom pods into powder and discard the shells of the pods (a mortar and pestle is ideal for this)
- Add the sugar and the ground cardamom.
- Mix the milk in with the dry ingredients.
- Preheat the oven to 200 degrees C fan
- Roll out the scone mix on a lightly floured surface to 1.5cm-2cm deep. Cut into triangles.
- Place the scones on a baking tray and brush with the beaten egg. Bake for 14-16 minutes (until lightly golden)
- Place the scones on a cooling rack ( with a clean tea towel if you have one handy)
