Chicken Livers
Have you ever been to Nandos and ordered Chicken Livers? If you have, you will know this is one of the hidden gems of the menu. This recipe will help you recreate the flavours, the heat you get from Nando’s in the comfort of your kitchen.
Chicken livers are a delicacy, common in Malawi. One reason for this is because people eat all parts of any meat – nothing is left spare. With some simple Malawian piri piri chillies, some onion and garlic, you too can be on your way to a home made Nando’s chicken liver experience.
Chicken Livers
A quick recipe for making chicken livers just as good as the ones from Nandos. Pick your spice level wisely
Ingredients
- 500 g Chicken livers
- 1 large onion (large)
- 6 cloves garlic
- 2 tps garlic powder
- 1 tsp Piri piri chilli flakes (you can add more if you wish)
- 1½ tsp Salt
Instructions
- Chop the onion and crush the garlic.
- Preheat a pan on low to medium heat. Add the oil, livers, onion, garlic, garlic powder and salt.
- Cook for 8-10 minutes or until livers are browned and cooked through. Stir occasionally and place the lid on the pan between stirring. Add a splash of water if needed to prevent the livers from sticking and burning.
- Add the chilli flakes and cook for a further 4-5 minutes adding a splash more water if required
